What a fantastic event! Well over 100 people attended and we even got our names in the newspaper! The goal of the Social Media Mashup conference was to educate local businesses on how to build their brands through social media and, ultimately, reap a return on their investment. The reviews that came in afterward said we delivered!

Mel Taylor was the emcee for the event. He gave an overview of the state of Social Media today. He then introduced Meredith Chapman, Senior News Editor at the University of Delaware. She spent twenty minutes discussing the first steps necessary to launch a successful social media strategy.

And then it was my turn!

I had 60 minutes to teach the room everything they needed to know about LinkedIn! We covered the benefits of LinkedIn, why and how to optimize your LinkedIn profile, how to leverage the LinkedIn Network, and what to do to see positive results from this awesome tool!

Here’s a snippet of just one of the many emails I received afterward:

Wanted to let you know that you convinced me to take my LinkedIn presence a bit more seriously! I gained several great insights from you about networking & connections, especially your description of LinkedIn as *Making invisible connections visible*. That did it for me.

I am happy to report that I sold out of all my books that I brought with me and everyone left happy. It really was a great event. Thank you to Colleen Smith, Sales Manager at the Courtyard Newark at the University of Delaware and Holly Norton, Community Engagement Editor at The News Journal Media Group for organizing and promoting the event.
